Top 5 Coffee Loving TV Characters

We all know coffee often is the fuel that powers us through that tough working day. Regardless of what your job is, it can provide that edge to get through even the toughest spots. Television is replete with strange and wonderful characters. So here are five that are well known for their love of a delicious cup o' Joe.

Captain Kathryn Janeway

Star Trek: Voyager's lady Captain was given a difficult situation. Stranded years away from friends and family, she relied on her ship, her crew, and most importantly a strong cup of coffee to get her home. Through thick and thin, she was prepared to risk it all to find a way home. Throughout the course of the show, you'd see Janeway with a cup of the good stuff in her hand.

Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe

Techncially it's 6 people, but given that we spent 10 years with them in that coffee shop, it's hard to imagine them without each other. It's no surprise that in between life, laughs and love, we’ve enjoyed watching this group of Friends chugging cappuccinos and lattes aplenty. It would be remiss not to also mention one of the most famous Barista's in the world – Gunther.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs

The grumpy head of NCIS is never too far from a cup of coffee. In fact, a recurring joke is that Gibbs' much loved drink is usually taken or spilled by someone else, much to his annoyance. However, he is a serious coffee-phile, as revealed when he admits to grinding his own blend during stakeouts.

Agent Dale Cooper

It seems law enforcement can't function without its daily java injection, as Twin Peaks' Agent Cooper is a frequent drinker. Along with some good cherry pie, he prefers his coffee black…and hot. He considers it a small gift to give himself every day, and viewers certainly know he understands and is vocal about the value of a damn fine cup of coffee.

Dr Niles Crane

The younger brother of Frasier, Niles and his cultured brother often spend many episodes enjoying a coffee in their home away from home, Cafe Nervosa. One of the great comedic characters, Niles is a brilliant psychiatrist, yet has an alarming amount of obsessive-compulsive mannerisms, which include wiping down public seating, and being extremely precise when it comes to his food and drink orders. Much to the consternation of baristas everywhere, his coffee orders are the stuff of nightmares.
