Coffee production in Colombia has dropped sharply in recent years due to global warming.
The South American nation, which is the second-largest exporter of high-end Arabica coffee beans, only produced 9 million 132-pound bags of coffee last year, down from 12 million bags in 2006.
Bogota had been aiming to produce 17 million bags in 2014.
Scientists claim increasing temperatures and irregular precipitation, which are linked to global warming, have led to lower yields.
Because of the supply shortage, the price of coffee beans has increased, and profits at coffee shops in the west have gone down.
A scientist working in the coffee industry has asked for more concerted efforts by coffee growers to boost supplies.
